The results are in for the 2025 World Alcohol-Free Awards (WAFA), and once again, the competition has proven itself as the gold standard for excellence in the alcohol-free space. Launched in 2023 by industry veterans Chrissie Parkinson and Chris Losh, WAFA was the first international competition solely dedicated to drinks with 0.5% ABV or less. What began with 400 entries from 20 countries has rapidly grown into the most prestigious tasting of its kind, drawing judges and submissions from around the world and showcasing everything from beer, wine, and spirits to shrubs, kombuchas, and teas. With each product tasted up to 12 times by expert judges who understand the unique complexities of the category, a WAFA medal has quickly become a mark of distinction.

Even within a year, the competition has seen noticeable shifts in style and quality, with categories like aperitifs, vermouths, and tea-based drinks making particularly strong showings. This shows how just how vibrant and international this movement has become.
